James' and Nick's Art Box

Nick Marshall is almost entirely self-taught, his unique vision of the world being inspired by his time in Spain, Cuba and other exotic locations.

He now lives and works in Brighton, where his work is beginning to attract a quiet but significant buzz of excitement.

Nick Marshall was recently featured in The Times, when the ‘Discerning Eye' exhibition (Mall Galleries, London) was described as offering freshness, life, sincerity'. He has also exhibited at The Camelford Gallery, The Apple Gallery in Godalming and the Red Biddy Gallery, Shalford. He also shows at the Brighton Festival, held every May.

James Hunt is, like Nick Marshall almost entirely self-taught. He does not claim to have a ‘unique vision' of the world, despite having travelled very widely; instead he is a jack-of-all-trades in terms of his art – as he does – many subjects in a wide range of styles and media.

James lives and works in Brighton as a freelance technical editor and writer, but he also undertakes commissions for his portraits – both oils and watercolour, taking his likenesses mainly from photographs of subjects provided.

James' portraits are, in the main, intended to be very close likenesses, although with varying moods and backgrounds.
